Mošćenice, Opatija Riviera

Mošćenice is a small and idyllic town on a small hill at 173 meters a.s.l. that offers magnificent views over the Kvarner Bay and its blue sea. Due to the exceptional beauty and cultural and historical importance, the fortified old town has been included in the register of Croatian cultural heritage sites. If you visit this medieval town, take a look at its rich ethnographic collection and stop by the almost 300-year-old working olive press, locally known as Mošćenički toš. Mošćenice’s beautiful churches have preserved the sacral heritage of this area, so do not miss to see the Church of St. Bartholomew, the Church of St. Sebastian, the Chapel of the Way of the Cross on Calvary Hill, and the parish Church of St. Andrew the Apostle. Look for comfortable accommodation in apartments and rooms in one of the picturesque stone houses or enjoy a pleasant stay in a luxurious villa. Not far from the village is the beautiful beach Sv. Ivan that you can reach by going down a flight of stairs. Close by is beach Uboka, which some consider to be the most beautiful beach in this part of the Adriatic, but also beach Jelenšćica, the certainly most picturesque beach as it is surrounded by rocks. Every August, Mošćenice hosts the International Art Colony called Mošćenički pinel, during which artists from all over Europe gather here to find inexhaustible inspiration for their works of art. Visit Mošćenice and discover all the charms of this magical town.
