Sv. Filip i Jakov

Sv. Filip i Jakov boasts an interesting cultural and historical heritage, although the most attractive and alluring features of this small village are certainly the beautiful beaches and picturesque bays. Its picturesque old town dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries and has preserved several valuable buildings, such as the Church of St. Michael from the 18th century and the Borelli Park, a horticultural monument. The well-preserved early Romanesque Church of St. Roch from the 11th century and the remains of the castle Dvorine are located in the former village of Rogovo on the hill above Sv. Filip i Jakov and worth visiting. This tourist resort is best visited in August during the traditional festival “Filipljansko ljeto”, when the village hosts numerous cultural and entertainment events. On August 16th, there is a special celebration in honor of St. Roch. Further along the coast in the direction of Zadar, there are several small tourist resorts like Sveti Petar and Turanj, which are mainly focused on family tourism. Beautiful pebble and sandy beaches stretch along the coast from Sv. Filip i Jakov to the neighboring Turanj. Sv. Filip i Jakov is an ideal starting point for discovering the nearby magical national parks Krka, Kornati, Plitvice and Paklenica, as well as for visiting the major tourist centers on the Adriatic coast like Šibenik, Zadar, Primošten and Biograd na Moru.
