Island Košljun

Košljun is a small island just across the coast of island Krk and located in the bay of Puntarska draga. It is known for its Franciscan monastery from 1447 and its two churches: the Church of Blessed Virgin Mary’s Annunciation and the Church of St. Bernard. Diligent Franciscan monks have been collecting and preserving many rare books for centuries, so their library today amounts to over 30,000 books. Interesting exhibits can be seen in the monastery’s sacral and ethnographic museum. This sanctuary of peace and silence is a very popular excursion destination among many tourists from the nearby town Krk and Punat and can be visited daily.
