Ćunski, island Lošinj

Ćunski is a village not far from Mali Lošinj that developed around a former prehistoric hillfort. Family houses with beautifully landscaped gardens harmoniously line the streets of this picturesque village on a hill. The place is dominated by the parish Church of St. Nicholas from the 16th century. The friendly hosts will warmly welcome their guests into apartments and holiday homes and offer them organically grown fruits and vegetables as well as their prestigious olive oils. Ćunski has been known for its centuries-old tradition of olive growing, so do not miss a visit to the old Torać oil mill, where you can learn more about the process and actually see how the golden olive oil is still obtained today by using the manual olive oil press. In this authentic ambience you can also taste high quality olive oils from the island of Lošinj and the nearby island of Cres.

Lovers of hiking and trekking can enjoy climbing up the hill Osorčica from where there is a magnificent panoramic view of the entire Lošinj archipelago, Istria, the Velebit mountain range and the nearby islands Rab, Pag and Silba. At the top of the hill is the Church of St. Nicholas, but worth visiting are also the two famous caves Vela Jama and the Cave of St. Gaudentius. The latter, according to legend, blessed the island and expelled all venomous snakes from there, which is why there are no venomous snakes on Lošinj. Refreshments can be found in the mountain lodge. If you enjoy adrenaline sports like free climbing, Osorčica offers some interesting climbing routes. Those who prefer to laze in the sun will have a hard time deciding which beautiful beach to visit. The beaches of Liska Slatina and Zabodarski, whose white pebbles are lapped by the turquoise clear sea, are the most beautiful holiday invitation to this charming village.
